Hey! I'm So Glad You're Here.

I'm Rachael Laing Smith, 48-and-a-half years old, give or take a few days. I'm a reluctant communicator at heart; labelled as a child who has too much to say, I've become an adult who is learning to listen, and I love to use communication to cheer people on and to encourage them to see who they really are (despite the junk we have to wade through).

I'm married to Phil, a compassionate engineer. Not that he engineers compassion, you understand, but he's compassionate AND an engineer which, I think you'll agree, is an unlikely combination and therefore worthy of mention. Between us we have three fab children who constantly surprise us and who occupy most of our conversation topics. We always seek to remember how much we have been blessed in the imperfect life that we live. And whilst we take no credit ourselves, we know that everything we have and everything we are comes from the God who made us, sees us as we are, and loves us anyway.

The name 48 Things came simply from a thought that struck me not long after my 48th birthday: I have lived long and learned much! They say that sharing is caring, and so I'm sharing the little I have in the hopes that you see the Father cares a whole lot.
